Emergency and Critical Care

Our People Make the Difference
Our team has the unique veterinary expertise of well-trained doctors and animal technicians who have advanced experience in the highly specialized field of animal emergency and critical care.

We Keep You Informed
We understand the strong bond between your pet and your family. We also understand that pet emergencies are stressful. We strive to do our best to make this time as easy for you as possible.

Surgical Procedures

We take no chances during surgical procedures. During the procedure your pet's heart, respirations, temperature and blood pressure are closely monitored just as would be done if you were in surgery. We take measures to control pain before, during and after surgery to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Imaging

AETC has state-of-the-art imaging capabilities to aid in the diagnosis of your pet.

  • Digital X-Rays

  • Ultrasound

  • Echocardiography

Digital X-Rays
Radiographs of the affected body parts are typically taken as part of the initial diagnostic work-up.  The same equipment that produces the radiograph is also used to create fluroscopy images. Contrast media, such as barium, may be added to outline the structure of an organ.  Repeated radiographs can tell the progress of the movement of the contrast material (examples: barium series for GI tract: urinary bladder cystogram).

Endoscopy
Our digital radiographs allows us to send images to many specialists for immediate diagnosis.

Ultrasonography

Ultrasound imaging is a noninvasive procedure that helps our veterinarians diagnose and treat many medical conditions. Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels and the heart.

Echocardiography, also known as a cardiac ultrasound, uses ultrasound techniques to image two-dimensional slices of the heart. Using telemedicine we send these images to a board certified Cardiologist for a prompt diagnosis of your pet’s condition.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine is a branch of medicine that evolved with the internet revolution. It involves sending medical data and images via phone or internet to another doctor or specialist to asses the diagnosis. The most common usage is with radiographs and ultrasound. This is essentially the same as having a board certified specialist in the building 24/7!
